Red Sox Spring Training Rosters
In Spring Training, teams invite everyone on the official 40-man roster, plus approximately 15-25 non-roster invitees. Not everyone ends up staying with the organization, or plays in the majors that year. Some who do will switch uniform numbers before the season starts. These lists contain all the players, coaches, and non-roster invitees who attended big league camp each year, along with the numbers they wore at the time. Browse through the lists and find the answer to the question, "Whose autograph did I get?" And if you go to the Spring Training workouts before games start, be sure to ask for your copy of the current year's roster.
Please note that in addition to the 60 or so players in "big league camp," there are also 100 more players participating in minor league camp, which typically takes place in the afternoons when major league practice is over, and on the back fields while Grapefruit League games are being played. They are occasionally asked to appear in big league camp to act as baserunners in fielding drills, and sometimes play in Grapefruit League games as late-inning replacements. They will either wear their own minor league numbers (in the workouts) or be assigned an unused high number for the day (in games). These players are not included on the official lists.
