Hi everyone. I'm a newbie here. I just got back from my annual trip down to Ft. Myers where I watch the boys of summer practice. They were a little later this year so I only got to spend one day at the training facility, but I'll take what I can get.

The guys were looking good. I saw most of the pitchers doing their standard drills. They're not kidding when they say that John Lackey is a big guy! Hopefully his presence on the field will be just as impressive. I was also impressed with how great a shape Diasuke was in. We saw him jogging one morning and it was definitely an athlete out there on the field. Here's hoping for an injury free season.

Dusty Brown was running drills with Varitek and Victor Martinez. Great guys to learn from. Could turn into a solid catcher for us.

I wish I could have stayed another week!! I've been a regular at the Red Sox practice sessions since 2003 and don't plan on calling it quits any time soon. That place always makes me smile! I guess they're looking to move the entirety of Red Sox Spring Training to a new camp in 2012. The way they're talking it's going to be more like Red Sox City in Fort Myers. Can't wait to see what develops.

Welcome, Trot07. Glad to hear you had fun at the workouts. I'm supposed to be on my way down there right now, but my flight got rained out, so now I have to wait till Saturday to see them.

I'm looking forward to checking out Jose Iglesias, and trying to get autographs from Boof and Tug (and whoever else will sign).

I've been going every year since '03, too, and the closeness of the access is what makes the spring workouts one of my favorite times of year!

Ugh. I know how frustrating those delays can be. Hopefully it doesn't set your trip back too much. I had to wait for snow in Boston and Minneapolis one year. No fun!

It'll be awesome once you get there (but you know that!) I hope it's warmer for you than it was when I was there. I would give just about anything to go back! You can probably snag those autographs no problem. Good luck and tell them all Jenni said hi. lol! Smile

I actually met your parents while at the training facility last Saturday and they told me about this website. It was really nice chatting with them while we waited for the guys to come out. You're doing a great job with the site - tons of info, very impressive. Go Sox!

Tell your parents I said hi.

Finally made it down, and we had a blast at the workouts on Saturday and Sunday.

For anyone who's interested, I posted pictures and video in the blog section of this site.
